In 1959, Pilgrim had two buildings on its property in Bellaire. Each was designed and built for ready conversion into classrooms when the sanctuary was completed. It was a good plan, but it soon became apparant that, because of tremendous growth, a larger tract of land was needed to provide for parishoners. A five acre site in Meyerland was located, and the congregation embarked on a mission to raise money throuh a bond selling program. The goal: enough funds to finance the building of a new parish hall and school building. At the same time, the congregation purchased a new parsonage on Darnell, closer to the Meyerland site, and sold the old parsonage on Locust in Bellaire. The bond program was successful, and on March 15, 1959, groundbreaking ceremonies were held to kick off construction for the new building. Construction was on schedule and within budget as the church members eagerly awaited the final move.
The final services at the old property in Bellaire were held on August 16, 1959. In the ten years as a congregation, Pilgrim had performed 105 baptisms, 83 confirmations, 21 marriages, and three funerals.
